Two thirds of the way through the book, I didn't know how I felt about it. I was frustrated with the turn of events and the development; with the characters and their personalities. Ratcliffe's relationship with his mother really got on my nerves. I would have told her to grow up, but that's just me. Arun's sudden appearance and his lack of emotion to surrender the woman he was in love with and has traveled so many months to marry made as much sense as Portia having no concern with and encourage Ratcliffe's ex mistress to live under his roof.
